Kum Chi-keung is an important sculptor in Hong Kong renowned for creating sculptures and installations in the shape of bird cages to explore social, cultural, and environmental issues. He graduated from First Institute of Arts and Design in Hong Kong in 1991 with a Certificate in Fine Arts. He later served as a resident artist for the "Community Art in Schools Program" organized by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. Over the years, he has held over 150 solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Germany, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, including Sculpture Art Exhibition, Asia Society, Hong Kong, 2020; Hong Kong Sculpture Biennial, 2016; China8, Germany, 2015; Inside Out: New Chinese Art traveling exhibition, USA, Australia, Hong Kong; and 11th International Biennial of Contemporary Art, Sydney, both in 1998.
In recent years, he has been commissioned by the Hong Kong International Airport project to create Big Bird sculpture permanently displayed in the waiting lounge. His works have been exhibited three times at Hong Kong Museum of Art, including Art Personalised: Masterpieces from the HKMoA Collection (Phase IV), 2025; Classic Remix: The Hong Kong Viewpoint, 2019; Eternal Tao: New Direction in Contemporary Chinese Art, 2013.
His works are housed in collections at Hong Kong Museum of Art; Hong Kong Heritage Museum; Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton; Opposite House, Beijing; YK PAO School, Shanghai; Hong Kong International Airport; K11 Art Mall in Hong Kong & Guangzhou; East Hong Kong; Sotheby's; Christie's; Deutsche Bank; Bank of China; Henderson Land Development; New World Development, Hong Kong; MGM, Macau.
