Chan Keng-tin

1979, Hong Kong

Introduction

Hong Kong ink painter Chan Keng-Tin is renowned for his literati landscape paintings, particularly his recent works that express a flattened and abstract style. These paintings evoke a sense of immersion in the vast wilderness, marking a significant phase in Chan’s transition from traditional to contemporary art. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2003. Between 2008 and 2010, he furthered his studies in landscape painting at the Reserach Centre of China National Academy of Painting in Beijing. Chan is a visiting painter at the Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, and a lecturer at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Over the years, he has received several prestigious awards, including recognition at the 11th National Art Exhibition in China (2009), the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards at the Hong Kong Museum of Art (2012), the 12th National Art Exhibition in China (2014), and the 13th National Exhibition of Fine Art (2019). This year (2024), Chan's works are selected for Cathay Pacific Airline's “Gallery in the Skies”, a curated exhibition program for the business class cabins of a new fleet of commercial airplanes.
