Introduction

Modern ink painter Nina Pryde is renowned for her striking landscape paintings that capture the rolling hills and slate skies of Hong Kong. Her unique approach combines collage with subtle, documentary-style imagery, showcasing her constant inventiveness and the inherent malleability of the medium. Since the 1980s, Pryde has explored various artistic directions, including ceramics, oil painting, and ink painting, continually studying and refining her craft. In 2004, she studied under Wucius Wong at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and later pursued a master’s course at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the Hong Kong School of Art at the age of 62. She currently lives and works in Hong Kong.

She was a finalist at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Awards in 2013. In 2024, Pryde's works are selected for Cathay Pacific Airline's “Gallery in the Skies”, a curated exhibition program for the business class cabins of a new fleet of commercial airplanes.  Her works are part of the collections at the University Museum and Art Gallery at the University of Hong Kong, Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and numerous private organizations.
