Introduction
Meng Yangyang is an emerging Chinese artist who has a deep fascination with oil painting materials and a keen interest in the theme of the individual, specifically as a vessel for spirit and soul.She graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts with a BA in 2006, and a subsequent MFA in 2009. Meng meticulously depicts virtual and fantastical scenes and figures, constantly balancing and reconciling imagination with the world, engaging in a dialogue of conflict and healing, immersion and escape. She currently lives and works in Shanghai, China.
Since 2004, she has had 15 solo exhibitions and 70 group exhibitions in the US, UK, Italy, Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, including a major solo exhibition Barbie, Cells and Stones, MOCA Shanghai (2023); other exhibitions include Castello Di Rivara Contemporary Art Museum, Torino, Italy; National Art Museum of China, Beijing; Today Art Museum, Beijing; Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art; Zhu Qizhan Art Museum; Shanghai Young Museum, Shanghai; Powerlong Art Centre, Hangzhou; Chengdu Modern Art Museum. Her works have been collected by Luohu Art Museum, Shenzhen; Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Sichuan; Thomas Olbricht Collection.
