Mui Ngo-suet, Charlotte

An emerging artist working mainly in watercolours, Charlotte Mui’s work often reflects her own experiences, visions, and dreams while drawing inspiration from mythologies, art history, theatre, popular culture and home. While Mui did not receive formal art training and instead, studied English Literature and Art History at the University of Hong Kong, obtaining her BA in 2018, she has always enjoyed painting and as a child has won numerous international and local awards for her work. After a decade of painting competitively, Mui continues to search for her own voice and mode of expression. In 2021, she completed and created her own deck of Tarot cards, ‘L’Œil de L’Âme Tarot’, which she uses exclusively for her fortune-telling endeavours. This series of Tarot cards was recently collected by Tate Library in the UK. In 2022 Mui was selected to participate in HKWalls Mentorship Programme 2022, creating a mural which was on display at HK harbour waterfront. Mui had worked full time at Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong. In 2023, she relocated to London and works as assistant librarian at Institute of International Visual Arts in London, UK.

Chinese Surrealism, the French May Arts Festival exhibition in 2021 marked the first collaboration between Alisan Fine Arts and the artist. In 2022, we held a solo exhibition For Mui that achieved great success with all of her artworks sold out. In 2023, her watercolour paintings were brought to Cromwell Place in London, UK, as part of the important exhibition Beyond Tradition: The Metamorphosis of Chinese Art. ART SG 2024 is her debut in Singapore.
