Hao Shiming

Introduction

Born in 1977 Heze, Shandong, Hao Shiming is a Beijing artist who attempts to extract line, which is the purest element, from traditional ink painting and thus transform and reconstruct it. Line is the most crucial element in his artistic philosophy. The lines in his landscape paintings are neither straight nor intended to render perspective but interweaved and undulated like writhing snakes, expressing a powerful leaping rhythm and the spirit of traditional ink art.

Hao graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2000 and received MA from Capital Normal University in Beijing in 2014. His works have been exhibited in over 45 solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Australia, Korea, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong. Alisan Fine Arts has been working with Hao since 2016, and exhibited his paintings at group exhibitions Emerging Ink Artists in 2017 and The Voice of the Brush in 2018; as well as Art Basel Hong Kong, Ink Asia, and Fine Art Asia. ART SG 2024 is his debut in Singapore.
