Introduction
Alisan Fine Arts (AFA) is thrilled to announce its participation in the upcoming Fine Art Asia2024, presenting a captivating group exhibition titled “Landscape In Motion.” Founded in 1981, Alisan Fine Arts has been a pioneer in advancing the understanding and appreciation of contemporary ink art both locally and internationally. This year, AFA continues its commitment to promoting contemporary art while celebrating the spirit of ink through a diverse array of techniques and interpretations, including two site-specific installations by respective female artists Fan Yan and Angel Hui.

“Landscape In Motion” invites viewers to explore the exciting possibilities in the ongoing evolution of traditional landscape painting. Irene Chou and Wucius Wong are early experimenters in ink abstraction; Zhang Jianjun and Tai Xiangzhou investigate planetary themes such as time, myth, and cosmology; Both painting urban landscape, Xu Jianguo inherits a revitalized and reinvented Song Dynasty tradition while Eddie Lui approaches with intricate line work and graphic design principles; Fu Xiaotong and Nina Pryde introduce pinholes and collage as new forms of ink expression; Lin Guocheng and Zhang Xiaoli integrate digital and scientific concepts into their compositions; Shan Weijun blends the influence of French Impressionism with his inventive ink dot technique; Chan Keng-tin reinterprets the flattened perspective of Chinese painting. Fan Yan and Angel Hui expand their current cross-disciplinary practice into building immersive environments, reflecting contemporary urban culture.

As the artists draw upon their diverse cultural heritage and personal experiences, they create art that addresses the dynamic relationship between the historical roots of landscape painting and its contemporary expressions, showcasing how they honor tradition while pushing the boundaries of the medium.
